Things to Do with Your Dog on Valentine’s Day

As Valentine’s Day fast approaches, everyone is thinking about what to do with their spouse, their partner, their crush. But what if you want to celebrate the day of cupid with your dog? As someone who is permanently single, my only plans involve curling up on the couch with a good romantic comedy and my pooch. If you’re planning on celebrating with your four-legged pal like me, consider some of these ideas for what to do on Valentine’s Day with your dog.

Bake Your Dog a Treat

Most pups are motivated by food and if your own dog falls into this category, why not do something out of the ordinary and bake your dog a treat. If you Google “homemade dog treat”, you’ll find thousands of recipe ideas that you can tailor to your own dog’s needs. Or, if you don’t feel like doing the work, stop by a dog-themed bakery and pick something up. If you want to be extra-fancy, serve your dog the treat on a pretty plate.

Take Your Dog to a Park

Who doesn’t love going to the park (and I’m including both humans and animals in that statement)? Let your pooch stop and sniff the roses at his or her favorite locale. Or you could look up a new park to visit and surprise your dog even more. Either way, a visit to the park means more exercise for both of you.

Watch a Dog-Themed Movie

If your pup likes to cuddle, settle down on the couch and put on a movie with dogs in it. Relax and snuggle up with your favorite companion and enjoy watching other dogs.

Buy Your Dog Some New Toys

Yes, if you’re like a lot of pet parents, you probably buy way too many toys for your dog. But hey, there’s nothing wrong with buying a new Valentine-themed toy to mix things up. We all need new toys every once and awhile, don’t we?

Set Up a Water Park in Your Backyard

A lot of dogs love water and what better way to show your pooch how much you love him or her then with a home-made water park in the backyard? Turn on the hose, fill up a pool, or get those sprinklers going and watch your four-legged pal explode with joy.

Show Your Dog You Care

The truth is, you don’t have to do anything to make your dog feel special on Valentine’s Day. If you’re like most people, you spoil and pamper your pooch every day, as well you should.
