Socks’ Favorite Dog Treats Recipe

Every Saturday I whip up a batch of homemade dog treats Socks can enjoy at lunchtime for the next seven days. These treats are great because they last a week and you don’t need to keep them in the fridge. Peanut Butter Dog Treats

(makes approximately 21 large treats)

Ingredients:

-2 1/14 cups whole wheat flour

-1/2 cup rolled oats

-1/2 cup yellow cornmeal

-1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil

-1/2 cup water

-1 tsp vanilla extract

-3 tablespoons natural peanut butter

-2 eggs at room temperature

Instructions:

-Preheat oven to 400 degrees F and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.

-Mix dry ingredients in large bowl; set aside.

-Whisk two eggs together in large bowl; add peanut butter and vanilla extract and whisk until combined. Whisk in water and oil.

-Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and combine until a dough forms.

-Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness and use dog-shaped cookie cutters to cut out treats. Arrange them on sheets 2 inches apart.

-Bake treats for 10 minutes, then rotate the sheets and bake for another 8 minutes.

-Turn oven off and allow treats to rest and crisp up for 10 minutes.

-Remove treats from oven and let cool completely, then give to your dog to enjoy.
